From handwritten input to digitalization, dramatically improving work efficiency
Daihatsu Infinearth Co., Ltd. manufactures and sells marine and general-purpose diesel engines. As part of its efforts to promote digital transformation within the company, the company introduced the voice recognition software "AmiVoice Keyboard" to improve the efficiency of inspection records that were previously written by hand.
The inefficiency of paper-based searches is an issue
In the past, records were handwritten during parts inspection and typically stored on paper. This process had issues such as the risk of errors or omissions, and the time it took to find the necessary information. Furthermore, there was a demand for a mechanism to prevent tampering, which has become a hot topic in recent years, and measures to further improve the reliability of data management were necessary.
Improving operational efficiency through digitalization
The introduction of voice recognition software has made it possible to input data into Excel while carrying out inspections, and by incorporating macros, it has become possible to provide input error alerts and visual coloring. This has significantly reduced the risk of typographical errors and omissions. A system has also been created to prevent non-standard numerical input, improving the reliability of the data.
Furthermore, now that inspection data is managed digitally, necessary information can be searched for quickly, significantly improving work efficiency.

The deciding factor for the introduction was the use of existing measuring instruments and cost performance
The reason for choosing "AmiVoice Keyboard" was that it met the need to introduce a system that allows data entry while conducting an examination. In particular, with other digital measuring devices and services, the measuring device itself must be replaced, which is a major cost burden, and this was an issue. However, "AmiVoice Keyboard" makes use of existing measuring devices as is, and allows information other than measured values to be easily entered by voice, making it cost-effective, which was the deciding factor.
About the future
We plan to further advance digitalization at testing sites and expand the introduction of voice recognition software to other testing facilities in the future.
