Doors open with the correct Osaka dialect intonation! AI-judged "Nandeyyanen" challenge
Advanced Media Inc. This voice recognition development kit has been adopted by WEST inx Inc. (Headquarters: Neyagawa City, Osaka; hereinafter "WEST inx") for "Key Voice: Open Sesame World," a system developed to unlock automatic doors by determining the accuracy of Osaka dialect intonation through voice recognition.
"Key Voice: Open Sesame World" will be on display for a limited time from May 2025th (Tue) to June 27nd (Mon) at the WEST inx booth in the exhibition and exhibit zone of the "Osaka Healthcare Pavilion Nest for Reborn" at the 6 World Expo, Japan (Osaka-Kansai Expo).
WEST inx, one of the oldest lock manufacturers in Japan, noticed that the sound waveform, which visualizes the pitch and volume of a sound, resembles the shape of a key seen from the side. Based on this idea, they developed "Key Voice - Open Sesame World", a system that uses voice as a key and opens automatic doors when spoken in the correct Osaka dialect with the right intonation.
The decision to adopt "AmiVoice SDK" for this system was made based on its extensive implementation track record, its resistance to differences in intonation and accent, and its ability to maintain high recognition accuracy even for dialects such as Osaka dialect.
"Key Voice: Open Sesame World" uses voice recognition to determine the intonation of the Osaka dialect spoken by the visitor, and if the visitor speaks with the correct intonation that meets the set evaluation criteria, an automatic door will open.
First, select the difficulty level of the Osaka dialect you wish to challenge from three options: "easy," "normal," or "difficult." The Osaka dialect you will challenge will be randomly selected from 25 different phrases. Once the Osaka dialect you wish to challenge is selected, a sample audio will be played. When the visitor speaks the specified Osaka dialect, such as "Nandeyanen," while referring to the sample, the AI speech recognition AmiVoice will judge the accuracy of the intonation of the speech.
The evaluation is done on a four-point scale: "Perfect!", "Looks good!", "Not bad!", and "Not good...", and the results are displayed on a display at the front. If a certain standard is met, an unlocking signal is sent, and the automatic door can be opened. This exhibition allows visitors from outside the prefecture and abroad to experience Osaka culture while experiencing voice recognition technology in a game-like manner.
In addition, "Key Voice - Open Sesame World" will be on display at WEST inx's Osaka showroom even after the exhibition period at the Osaka-Kansai Expo ends. Furthermore, Advanced Media and WEST inx plan to use this opportunity to deepen their collaboration in order to create new experience value using voice recognition technology.
