Demonstration experiment of "next generation electronic guide" using iBeacon started at National Museum of Ethnology

Advanced Media Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Toshima-ku, Tokyo; Chairman and President: Kiyoyuki Suzuki; hereinafter referred to as "Advanced Media") and the National Museum of Ethnology (location: Suita City, Osaka Prefecture) are using short-range wireless communication iBeacon and voice recognition. On September 9th, we began a demonstration experiment of a "next generation electronic guide" that combines the technology AmiVoice®.

■Purpose of demonstration experiment
Since its opening, the National Museum of Ethnology has actively introduced guidance services that utilize digital tools, such as videos and electronic guides, and has endeavored to provide explanations of exhibits through audio and video, with the aim of widening awareness and deepening understanding of the exhibits. Ta. Meanwhile, Advanced Media is working on the development of an interactive agent service using voice recognition technology AmiVoice®.

This time, at the National Museum of Ethnology, we will be experimenting with an interactive virtual concierge equipped with voice recognition and the provision of content via iBeacon short-range wireless communication as a "next-generation electronic guide" with the aim of further promoting visitors' understanding of exhibits.

■ Outline of demonstration experiment
iBeacon is a short-range wireless communication technology that allows information to be sent directly from a sensor terminal to a smartphone using Bluetooth. When a visitor comes within iBeacon's communication range, the OS automatically sends a push notification, and displays videos, images, and text on the screen showing the creation process of the target exhibit and how the exhibit is actually used. Display. By automatically supplementing the content with information that allows for a deeper understanding of the exhibition, it is hoped that viewing will be more in-depth, leading to deeper knowledge and understanding. Information can be delivered naturally without any complicated operations, so it does not interfere with viewing the exhibits.

In the interactive virtual concierge experiment, we will be experimenting with an interactive service that uses the voice recognition function to play a voice message as a support function to let you know when you have entered the exhibition area, and after you have left the exhibition area. In the future, we plan to use it to search for information on facilities and exhibits in an interactive format, and to collect questionnaires using voice input.

According to a consumer trend survey released by the Cabinet Office in April of this year, the household penetration rate for smartphones is 4%, and it is expected to continue to increase. Along with this, O54.7O (Online to Offline) marketing using smartphones as devices is attracting a lot of attention, and the market size is predicted to rapidly grow to approximately 2 billion yen* by 2020. Among these, iBeacon is said to be a digital marketing platform that can become a central player in O2,360O marketing in the future, and we also view it as an important market in order to collaborate with voice recognition technology.

Advanced Media aims to create new value by exploring the fusion of short-range wireless communication technology iBeacon and voice recognition technology AmiVoice®. Based on the results of this demonstration experiment at the National Museum of Ethnology, we plan to position this initiative as a new visitor guidance system and marketing system, and plan to expand it to commercial facilities.

We will continue to actively incorporate cutting-edge technology in a wide range of fields and develop services and solutions that combine our technology.
