Launched a low-cost telephone answering ASP service that uses voice recognition to transcribe telephone calls into addresses

GF Corporation (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Shoji Nakayoshi, hereinafter referred to as GF) and Advanced Media Corporation (Toshima-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Kiyoyuki Suzuki, hereinafter referred to as Advanced Media) will jointly provide a low-cost telephone response ASP service that uses a telephone voice response system and a voice recognition engine. Trial provision will begin on October 1st, and the service will be officially launched in November.

GF provides telephone voice response system services and has developed low-cost auto-call systems primarily targeted at small and medium-sized businesses. Since 2000, it has developed an Internet-integrated voice response system called "Voice Converter" using its own technology, and has been providing an automatic telephone response system service that operates on the Internet. This is a service that converts Internet homepages and submission forms into voice, and sends the results to a server or can be viewed on a browser, making it possible for the company to act as an ASP (Application Service Provider) that provides automatic telephone response system services to multiple companies over the Internet.

Advanced Media has developed AmiVoice, a Japanese voice recognition system using its own technology, and has offered various solutions that allow data entry by "voice," and in April of this year, it completed a voice recognition data entry system via telephone. This system records the voice of the end user making a call, recognizes the recorded voice after the call ends, converts it into text, and allows both the voice itself and the text of the voice recognition results to be accessed via the Internet for confirmation and correction.

The two companies will jointly provide a service that incorporates Advanced Media's voice recognition data entry system into GF's Internet integrated voice response system, as an ASP. As both companies had already completed the development of their own services that run on the Internet, it was possible to develop a system in which the two companies' systems could work together in a short period of time, making it possible to provide the much-requested address recognition service as a low-cost ASP service.

Conventionally, the combination of a telephone voice response system and voice recognition recognized the end user's voice while the call was being made, processed in real time, and asked the end user to confirm the recognition result. Conventional systems caused the end user the trouble of having to confirm the voice, and the call time was longer than a human conversation, and the service operator incurred high costs due to the long call time, which was one of the reasons that hindered the spread of automatic telephone response systems. In addition, the development of such a system with instant recognition required a large investment, which was a major obstacle to the spread of voice recognition technology. However, real-time processing is not necessarily required for many applications. The service provided this time achieves low cost by providing transcription by a specialized group via the Internet instead of real-time processing, and improving the efficiency of transcription by voice recognition. In addition, for users who perform the confirmation work themselves, it is possible to provide a lower-cost service by providing only the voice recognition results themselves. Furthermore, by providing an ASP service using the Internet, it is possible to provide services at an even lower price by sharing applications and resources, which would require a large investment in development, equipment, and maintenance and operation costs for a single company.

Specifically, low costs are achieved through the following:

● Voice response service reduces manned response costs
- Reduction in telephone equipment costs and communication costs due to shorter call times
● Reduction in hardware costs for voice recognition by leveling out the voice recognition load
● Reducing transcription costs by using speech recognition for transcription
● Reduction in capital investment through shared use of telephone response servers
● Reduction in maintenance and operation costs through the joint use of various servers
● Reduce costs by sharing address recognition dictionaries
● Enjoy the benefits of lower cost Internet environment

The main areas where this service can be applied include:

* Inputting address and name, such as for requesting information
- Inputting orders, such as accepting reservations on holidays or at night
● Automatically accept address transfers for various memberships, certificates, etc.

For example, when entering delivery addresses and names for TV shopping, telephone equipment costs are roughly half of those for real-time processing, voice recognition hardware costs are roughly one-tenth, and transcription costs are roughly one-quarter of those for manual transcription without voice recognition.
