Developed a voiceprint authentication system for mobile phones, compatible with all telephones including landlines
Advanced Media Co., Ltd. (Toshima-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Kiyoyuki Suzuki, hereinafter referred to as "Advanced Media") has announced the launch of AmiVoice Mobile Verification, a voiceprint authentication system for mobile phones.®Advanced Media has developed AmiVoice Mobile Verification, a system that uses the biological characteristics of voiceprints as a form of biometric authentication.® "Mobile Verification" is an ASP service for authentication via mobile phone that began offering on October 10th of this year.
This authentication ASP service will be used as one of the means of identity authentication using mobile phones in "SyncLock Personal," an authentication security service that BB Mobile Corp. will begin offering on October 10th of this year.
By being able to use a person's voice instead of the traditional ID and password as a means of identity authentication when distributing paid content over the Internet or when making contracts, etc., in businesses where payments are made solely by mobile phone, this will enable reliable identity authentication of the payment authorizer, and since the transaction conversation history is also saved as data, it will also serve as a measure to prevent fraudulent transactions.
Advanced Media is looking to have various service and content providers adopt this authentication system and authentication ASP service, with the goal of having five users adopt the system and achieve sales of 2005 million yen in fiscal 5, and 3,000 users adopt the system and achieve sales of 2006 million yen in fiscal 20.

Features of "Mobile Verification"
①It is compatible with all telephones including landlines, VoIP, and PHS in addition to mobile phones (2G, 3G), making it a fully-fledged voiceprint authentication system for mobile phones.
②You can use your mobile phone as a replacement for an IC card. The caller number and serial number of your mobile phone are used as your ID, and the words you say are recognized and used as your password. Therefore, even if you are the person in question, you cannot be authenticated from any mobile phone other than the one you used when registering, and even if you lose your mobile phone, it is very difficult to authenticate from someone else's voice.
3) By combining it with a voice recognition engine, it is now possible to randomly change the content of the speech. Since it is possible to realize a one-time passphrase (Note 1), it is a perfect countermeasure against impersonation by recording.
2) It realizes an active biometrics method (Note XNUMX). Unlike other biometrics such as fingerprints, even if biometric information is leaked, the security level can be maintained by changing the passphrase unlimitedly.
⑤It can be linked to a time authentication system. The spoken passphrase and authentication result data can be saved in a tamper-proof form along with the authentication time.
⑥Depending on the model of mobile phone, you can choose between circuit switching, packet communication, and standalone systems.
Please note that the packet communication method and standalone method depend on some mobile phone models.
⑦At the start of the service, it will only be offered as an ASP type, but in the future we will support various delivery formats such as client-server type.
8) In terms of authentication accuracy, for mobile phones (2G and 3G), a false acceptance rate (FAR) of 0.5% or less and a false rejection rate (FRR) of 5% or less have been achieved.
Note 1)
What is a passphrase?
A password with a longer length. It is usually made up of a combination of alphanumeric characters and symbols that are several dozen characters or more long (varies depending on the system). It is called this because it is often made up of a string of multiple words to make it easy to remember. There is less risk of a chance of a match being found by chance in a brute force attack than with a password. It is used in PGP, SSH, etc. to ensure a high level of security.
Note 2)
What is the active biometrics method?
In biometric authentication, the minutiae information of fingerprints, irises, and veins cannot be changed; this is defined as a static biometric method. On the other hand, the minutiae of a signature can be freely changed at the will of the authenticator when it is registered; this is defined as a dynamic biometric method. The minutiae information of a voiceprint can be changed depending on the voice quality (static) and the content of what is spoken (dynamic). In other words, a hybrid authentication method that combines static and dynamic information is called an active biometric method. These features make it possible to set an emergency password or change minutiae information if it is leaked.
[How users use it]
When registering your voiceprint, you will be asked to speak three times for about three seconds each, and when authenticating your voiceprint, you will only need to speak once for about three seconds to be authenticated.
