The engine was developed and adopted by Prezam Co., Ltd. (Head office: Koto-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Yasuhiro Yoshida, hereinafter referred to as "Prezam") for its Japanese language learning iPhone app for foreigners*1.

In response to the domestic spread of the iPhone, a high-performance mobile phone that can be used like a computer, and smartphones, Advanced Media has been developing voice recognition technology for the iPhone and smartphones since October 2009.

We have been providing licenses and ASP*2 for the above.

This time, Prezam has been selected to use our company in their Japanese language learning app for iPhone for foreigners, in recognition of our high voice recognition technology and accuracy of the "Voice Recognition Mail" service*3) for iPhone, as well as our track record in the development of a "Japanese Pronunciation Lesson" system for PC use in the education field.

Unlike ordinary voice recognition technology, this technology is equipped with a function to recognize Japanese pronunciation specific to foreigners, and a function to judge the fluency of Japanese. In particular, for fluency judgment, we use a judgment standard based on statistical information on foreigners' Japanese, and statistically process factors such as the accuracy of pronunciation, pauses between words, and speaking speed, resulting in a scoring result that is closer to the judgment standard of humans.

With this adoption as a turning point, Advanced Media will actively promote the provision of voice recognition technology to application development vendors, and will also promote the provision of voice recognition technology for mobile devices not only in Japan but also overseas.

We will continue to promote the further dissemination of this technology.

*3) What is voice recognition email?

Advanced Media has been distributing "Voice Recognition Mail" for iPhone for a fee since July 2009, and added a new function for posting to "Twitter" in September 7. It also supports Twitter's unique terminology, and allows users to easily create posts by voice, which has been very well received, with users saying "it's convenient because you can input text without taking up space in your field of vision" and "it has a high recognition rate," and both the free and paid versions of "Voice Recognition Mail" have been downloaded more than 2009 times in total (as of March 9).
