In response to the recent rise in interest in Japanese culture, including Japanese manga and anime, the number of Japanese language education institutions in 133 countries and regions overseas increased by 2006% in the three years from 2009 to 3, the number of Japanese language teachers by 9.4%, and the number of Japanese language learners by 12.4%, to 22.5 (according to the Japan Foundation, March 3,651,232). In addition, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "2011 International Students Plan" is underway, and it is expected that the number of international students from overseas will increase from the current 3 to about 30 by 12, leading to an increased enthusiasm for learning Japanese. In response to such needs, Bonjinsha released the iPhone application "Digital Japanese Conversation® dNihongo®" for Japanese language learners in April 2020, and "Digital Japanese Conversation® Chinese Version" in August 30. These applications have been well received, with people saying that they are "unprecedented Japanese language audio learning materials" and "learning is fun like playing a game."
Many overseas Japanese language learners start learning Japanese by learning the Roman alphabet, rather than the Japanese writing system, such as hiragana, katakana, and kanji. There are also Japanese language learners who do not learn the characters, such as hiragana, katakana, and kanji, in order to simply learn how to speak.
With this in mind, this application retains the content of "Digital Japanese Conversation® dNihongo®" but displays Japanese conversational sentences in romanized characters, making it easier for Japanese language learners who have difficulty reading Japanese in hiragana, katakana, and kanji to learn Japanese pronunciation. Targeted at people learning Japanese both in Japan and overseas, the application allows users to easily master basic Japanese conversation by practicing the pronunciation of 150 sample sentences that are likely to be used frequently in daily situations, such as when taking a taxi, at a hotel front desk, or in a restaurant. Spoken content is then automatically recognized using voice recognition technology.AmiVoice®This allows for objective and continuous learning.
Bonjinsha and Advanced Media will continue to provide Japanese language learners around the world with voice recognition technology.AmiVoice®We will continue to expand by providing a variety of services that utilize this technology to contribute to Japanese language learning and education around the world.
