In recent years, the spread of generative AI has led to rapid progress in the use of AI in companies, and AI agents that handle more advanced automation and decision-making support have been attracting attention. However, as AI capabilities improve, questions regarding the division of roles between humans and AI, such as to what extent should be left to AI and which areas should be handled by humans, are becoming unavoidable. To consider the optimal collaborative relationship between humans and AI in the AI ​​era toward the realization of "HCI," it is essential to first clarify the value that humans should fulfill. In light of this, we conducted a survey on the theme of "The value and roles that humans and AI should each play."

The results of this survey revealed that as the use of AI advances, there is more importance than ever before being placed on demonstrating the value that only humans can provide, such as relationship building, decision-making, and creative work. While AI continues to evolve daily, led by AI agents, areas such as interpersonal communication and high-level judgment that comes with responsibility are still expected to be "human strengths."
Furthermore, the most common response to collaborate on an equal footing with AI was "improved trust and transparency (46.9%)," and the most common response to change in work style as a result of its introduction was "improved work efficiency (42.2%)." These findings suggest that there is a growing tendency to view AI not as something to be eliminated, but as something that "if it can be trusted, it will be utilized."
These results highlight that AI is no longer seen as something that will take away people's jobs, but as a "partner" that creates an environment in which people can focus on creating the value they are meant to deliver.
