Company History


1997

December: Advanced Media, Inc. established as speech recognition venture at 1-32-6 Kakigara-cho, Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan.

1999

March: Formed the Interactive Voice System Research Group (IVSRG) to support the evaluation and improvement of AmiVoice, and released the AmiVoice SDK software development support tool (version 1.0)

2000

July: Released version 3.0 of the AmiVoice SDK, launched actual Solution Support Business. Headquarters moved to 3-1-1 Higashi-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo.

November: AmiVoice Web site for speech recognition applications comes on line; License Business for enterprise users commenced.

2002

March: AmiVoice for game machines (XBOX, PS2) released simultaneously with announcement of AmiVoice/Distributed Speech Recognition (DSR), which is primarily for communications use. Also released AmiVoice Medical for Radiology, a pioneering speech input package for radiological image diagnostic reports.

October: Released AmiVoiceDSR for Dictation/PDA, which uses AmiVoice DSR to allow dictation using a PDA.

November: Released AmiVoice ID (now called AmiVoice Mobile Verification), a client-server speech verification application.

2003

April: Released AmiVoice Medical Scribe, a user-friendly medical text output application with high-speed processing. Initiated sales partner system in the medical area.

May: Released AmiVoice SDK version 5.0, which supports the development of speech recognition applications for the versatile PC platform.

August: Released AmiVoice Rewriter, a conference proceedings creation support application; AmiVoice CallScriber, an application for converting recorded call-center conversations to text; and AmiVoice Reporter, an operating report creation support system; launched high-value-added License Business.

2004

March: Released AmiVoice Ex (Hospital/Clinic), an electronic medical record application.

May: Local government assemblies and their committees commenced using AmiVoice Rewriter.

June: Commenced sales of Japanese-language study applications with audible pronunciation guides and interactive English conversation practice applications.

October: AmiVoice DSR front end converted to ASIC chip, mounted in mobile telephones.

2005

January: Released AmiVoice Ex Pharmacy, a speech recognition application for dispensing pharmacies to support the preparation of instructions on dosage and administration.

February: Commenced sales of AmiVoice CALL–pronunciation, an application that assists Japanese students to correct their English pronunciation

March: Actroid, a reception and information robot, introduced at Expo 2005 in Aichi, Japan. Operating in four languages, Actroid incorporates Advanced Media’s conversation technology.

June: Listed on Mothers market at the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Hokkaido Prefectural Assembly and other local government assemblies began using conference proceedings creation system.

July: Established subsidiary Voice Domain Service, Inc. to offer voice-operated Internet search services using mobile telephones.

October: Significantly reduced the price of AmiVoice® Ex Clinic, the industry’s most accurate speech input software for electronic medical records, with the object of increasing the number of sites using it

Converted MC2, Ltd. into a consolidated subsidiary for the purpose of expanding Advanced Media’s business base
