Entertainment & Education

AmiVoice is the leader in speech recognition in the field of entertainment & education.

Games developed using speech and English pronunciation correction software are great examples of a speech recognition application for consumers.

Kindling user’s desire for a hands-on experience

In the field of entertainment & education (E&E), consumers including game players and students are the primary customers of speech recognition technology. These customers first try speech recognition not because it is essential, but because they think it might be interesting and useful. The concepts of increased efficiency and cost reductions are not applied.
For these reasons, Advanced Media’s E&E Division sees its mission as fostering the curiosity and interest of that sort of customer. Together with our partner firms, we are involved, from the planning stages onward, in the development of products that appeal strongly to this customer segment.

Giving games a sense of realism and participation with speech recognition

We are concentrating efforts in the game industry, which is both the primary force in entertainment and a source of pride for Japan. Although the sense of realism has been enhanced by improving imaging technology and display capabilities, the only way to improve the interface that ties the user to the game is to increase the number of buttons on the controller.
However, we think, through the use of speech as the interface to give commands to characters and interact with them, it is possible to impart an entirely new sense of realism. To help us achieve this, staff with specialized knowledge participate in game development from the planning stages and continue to propose higher specifications.

Innovative applications of speech recognition, changing the classroom

Teaching English in Japan has always been a headache. Although there are some strong proponents of the benefits of beginning English education in elementary school, in reality the number of teachers who can properly pronounce English is limited. Students, parents and even teachers in the classroom have grave misgivings.
Speech recognition offers a solution to this problem through a revolutionary new educational system. This technology allows users not only to check correct pronunciation, but also to identify specific problems with the student’s pronunciation. Educators can use this system to become the best possible teachers of English pronunciation. It is Advanced Media’s hope that this technology will to some degree alleviate the problem of insufficient teaching resources in the classroom.
